Can My Dog Participate?
Yes, for the safety of all the dogs that visit our facility, vaccinations are required.
Regular vaccinations from your vet will often include "lepto," but we encourgage you to discuss with your veterinarian the leptospirosis vaccine to determine if it is right for your pet.
Leptospirosis in dogs is a bacterial infection that spreads through the bloodstream. Dogs typically contract leptospirosis through direct contact with urine from an infected animal. Open sores on the skin can increase the chances of contracting this disease. The bacteria infiltrate a dog’s body by burrowing into their skin. If your dog swims in, passes through, or drinks infected water, or if they come into contact with infected soil or mud, they are at risk.
Leptospirosis traditionally was thought of as a disease in rural areas; however, this is changing. In busy cities, leptospirosis can be spread to dogs via rodents and city wildlife and areas of standing water.
The leptospirosis vaccine has improved drastically in the past decade, making it less immunogenic, which in turn causes fewer possible side effects.

Yes. If you want to complete the entry form and mail it in with your personal check, you'll find a link to the BHA website under our 'Trial Registration' menu. Please be aware, however, that our trials fill-up on a first come, first served basis, and may be full by the time your entry reaches us in the mail.
We ask that you please provide at least a 24 hour notice if you're not going to be able to attend a Private Lesson for which you signed up. If it's a Group Lesson or Trial, we'll miss you, but since we have to be there anyway your absence won't impact us.
